What the HeCK is this thing?

Your Questions, Answered.

Perpetual Motion. Wait. What?
Arrow

Really. Lightfoot uses two 120W solar panels and 2WD regenerative braking to stay ready to go whenever you are.

Used for every day short trips around town - typically 3-5 miles per trip, or 10-15 miles per day - Lightfoot can stay charged throughout the year, with up to 18 miles of daily charge just from the sun alone.

That’s in addition to the 37 miles of riding available from a fully charged 1.1wKh battery. And thanks to advanced regenerative braking that captures every bit of energy possible, your rides become even more efficient – each downhill coast and gentle stop turns into a little extra range.

Why should I get a Lightfoot?
Arrow

Around half of all the passenger trips taken in the U.S. are less than 5 miles.  Lightfoot riders enjoy the power, storage and range to transform these everyday short trips into joyrides while bypassing the headaches and expense of dealing with a car.

With a room for two on the cushioned bench and just the right amount of storage, it’s a better way to navigate your day. Headed to the grocery store? Leave your Lightfoot in the parking lot and it’ll top off while you’re shopping. Going to school? Bring a friend or your kid. On a first date? Roll up on a Lightfoot, and you’ll surely get a second.Drive less and do life better.

Will Lightfoot’s securable storage space fit a helmet?
Arrow

Lightfoot features a generous lockable storage compartment measuring more than 1.5 cubic feet (45.2 liters)–comparable in size to a carry-on suitcase.

This compartment can comfortably fit up to 33 lbs. (15kg) of cargo, enough space for three large grocery bags, a work bag, a helmet or anything else you need to stash on your travels. Its weatherproof design and sturdy lock protect your stuff from prying eyes and the elements, ensuring your belongings arrive as safely as you do.

Lightfoot has two powerful 750W motors. Why is Lightfoot’s speed limited to 20 mph?
Arrow

At Lightfoot, we’re committed to using shared infrastructure, like bike lanes, the right way. Many places don’t allow electric vehicles to go more than 20mph in bike lanes, and frankly, we agree with them. That’s why Lightfoot is limited to just under 20mph.

Lightfoot’s dual motor power is instead used to maximize Lightfoot’s low-end torque for rapid acceleration, for instance, away from oncoming traffic, to speed up steep hills, or to carry a second rider. The motors deliver best-in-class 90Nm of low-end torque - significantly more torque than you get from comparable cargo scooters and e-bikes.

Do I need a license or registration to operate a Lightfoot? Can it ride in a bike lane?
Arrow

No license or registration required. Lightfoot is the same class of vehicle as a standing scooter - like a Lime scooter - and compliant with federal standards for micromobility vehicles. That also means you can ride your Lightfoot in a bike lane or the road - and park it anywhere you’d park a scooter or bike. Lightfoot’s compact size maximizes parking access flexibility.

Lightfoot isn’t designed for and neither recommended nor legal for use on highways.

Is it hard to ride? I haven’t ridden a two wheeler in a while.
Arrow

Lightfoot is designed to be simply simple to ride. It has no clutch or gears. You just twist & go for starting, stopping and weaving.

Its low center of gravity, energy absorbing functionality and cushy suspension give riders a new level of stability and maneuverability, comfort and control at low speeds - no matter the surface below. The simple bench seat design makes it perfect for riders of all sizes - just slide up or down until you find just the right spot for you.

What if it breaks? What are repair options?
Arrow

Lightfoot is designed for ultra low maintenance and quick repair. We did this by designing out some of the most common things that fail on vehicles. We replaced drive trains with dual-drive high efficiency motors, using robust aerospace grade wire connectors, and a ruggedized chassis and dual suspension to help enable everyday use and longevity).

And Lightfoot’s modular construction, with off-the-shelf parts, makes it quick to repair with common tools.  If something goes wrong, riders can contact Lightfoot for parts that ship out the same day and, in many instances, can repair the vehicle on their own or with assistance from a nearby bike shop or over the phone from a Lightfoot expert.

What’s to stop someone from stealing a Lightfoot?
Arrow

Thieves will think twice about stealing a Lightfoot given its relatively heavy weight and wheels that are electronically locked and won’t move without a key. A simple lock through either wheel makes Lightfoot virtually unmovable. Our team can recommend additional options for those seeking more assurance.

What is the Lightfoot buyback guarantee?
Arrow

We guarantee everything we make. Because we know that prioritizing durability - and ultra low cost of ownership - results in consuming less energy, wasting less water, creating less trash and providing more value.

That’s why Lightfoot will buy back your vehicle when you’re ready to trade it in. We’ll make a fair offer for your model based on the scooter’s mileage, market factors such as demand and seasonality and our own reconditioning costs so a future owner can enjoy the Lightfoot in perfect condition.

What does the name Lightfoot mean?
Arrow

The name “Lightfoot” reflects our ambition to enable fun-filled movement, independence & spontaneity, strengthened connections and boundless energy. Our logo is a swift - a bird that spends almost its entire life in flight – eating, drinking, sleeping and even mating on the wing. That kind of freedom and movement and abundance of energy is a source of inspiration for Lightfoot.
